Why Dogs Are is the first in the Love Unleashed children’s illustrated picture book series. The book tells the story of how a dog teaches some life lessons to a very special child who is blind and deaf. Told from a Christian perspective, the storybook explores the concept of God’s unconditional love and impact in our lives. A great read for toddlers, young children, or kids of all ages!
About the Children’s Story
A real boy named Brian, born deaf and blind, inspired the children’s book. His character is a composite of the many kids who attended the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, where they learned to live with one or more disabilities. Also, the author’s own dog Muttley was a therapy dog that brought his light and love to nursing home residents and to kids with disabilities.
Why Dogs Are was named a finalist in the nonprofit Next Generation Indie Book Awards (category Spirituality) and a Silver medal recipient in the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards competition, in 2014.
The children’s picture book was beautifully illustrated by Marita Gentry, an illustrator for Pelican Press, with several children’s picture books in print.
100% of net profits from the sale of this book goes to charities that support spay-neuter programs, dog rescue, and dog-therapy programs.
